Short version: the answer is usually yes, but please read the relevant details for your situation, just to be sure!
For those of you unfamiliar with copyright law, this document is not a list of me making claims to rights i merely want; it’s actually me reiterating rights i already legally have, as well as willingly giving up a few because i find my version more ethical and community-minded than standard U.S. copyright law.
Here’s a list you can use to jump to what you need:
found on social media
If an image has my watermark, you may:
- Repost/reblog/retwerp my post
- Make your own post to share the image on your social media, your blog, or chat/texts
- Feature it in videos
- Print it (if it’s a high enough resolution) for your own personal enjoyment
If it doesn’t have my watermark:
- Please email it to me and i will swap you for one that has the watermark! I don’t put it there to be like “Nyah, this is MINE!” but rather so that people who like my work can find more of it. That’s the whole point of sharing it in the first place–so people who like the same stuff i do can enjoy it :3
You may not:
- Obscure/remove the watermark or otherwise alter the digital version
- Alter the work in digital format before redistributing it
- Sell the digital image, or print it and sell the physical prints of the image
- Ever use any of it for machine learning, ever
commission (digital product)

- Print a high-resolution version sans watermark for your own personal enjoyment
- Use the high-resolution version sans watermark for your device’s display background/log-in screen/etc.
You may not:

commission (physical product)
You may:
- Repost/reblog/retwerp my posts, which will feature the social media version of the image that has my watermark
- Make your own post to share the version of the image that has my watermark on your social media, your blog, or chat/texts (if i didn’t remember to email you the watermarked image, feel free to remind me!)
- Feature the version of the image that has my watermark in videos
- Gift (or sell!) the physical, original image to someone else, but they must be made aware of this agreement you are reading right now
You may not:
- Scan or photograph the work and then redistribute it in digital format
- NOTE: Photos that include you, furniture, pets, and other surroundings are okay! You should absolutely feel free to take a photo of the piece where you’ve chosen to display it or during your unboxing, etc.
The purpose here is to maintain the integrity of the color profile and image quality of the digital copies available online, as well as including the watermark so other people can find me if they want to ask what brand of watercolor i used or something. (If i didn’t remember to email you the watermarked image, feel free to remind me!)

Art Confetti
You may:
- Repost/reblog/retwerp my posts, which will feature the social media version of the image that has my watermark
- Make your own post to share the version of the image that has my watermark on your social media, your blog, or chat/texts
- Feature the version of the image that has my watermark in videos
- Gift (or sell!) the physical, original image to someone else, but they must be made aware of this agreement
- Cut up the physical, original image and use the pieces in scrapbooking, greeting cards, etc.
- Cut up the original and use the pieces in new pieces of your art
Whoa, hold on, new pieces of art… what does that mean? Examples of ways to use the confetti include: encased in resin jewelry, pasted into collages, sealed onto magnets or inside pinback buttons, etc. If you want to cut up the sheet and include the doodles in a collage and then sell prints/greeting cards/etc. of your collage, that is also acceptable.
I have a 51 / 49 rule: as long as 51% or more of the surface area of your new piece of art is not my art, i consider it yours and the terms on this page cease to apply.
I am so excited to see what you make! Please send me:
- A scan/photo of your art work that includes Art Confetti
- Any URL where you’ve posted it so i can boost it for you
- Anything else you want to tell me about your project! With the exception of the last point in this next section, i am extremely excited about this kind of unofficial collaboration
You may not:
- Obscure/remove the watermark on the digital version
- Alter the work in digital format before redistributing it
- Sell the digital image, or print it and sell the physical prints of the image
- Ever use any of it for machine learning, ever
- If i find my art integrated into a work that promotes, encourages, or supports white supremacist, homophobic, or other hate-based ideals, i’ll DMCA first and then for good measure, i’ll take the risk of suing that artist, just out of ethical spite. (Plus if the judge finds in my favor, the damages they will award for smearing my reputation like that…)
tattoos
Go nuts! Please send me photos–i would love to see! If you love it enough to get it stabbed into your skin permanently, maybe you’ll also kick me a tip? 😉
