Art

I tried some experiments with embroidering on watercolor paper, which convinced me that while i hadn’t succeeded yet, i’m still interested and i should try on bigger paper. I also got excited about weird mushrooms whose stalks were things like human hands or molars.

  • If you’re in Seattle, or you’ll be traveling through before September 15, 2026, my work is in Paper Pushers Print Shop! It’s a fantastic, fun community space full of indie zines, comics, books, prints, stickers, etc. which also hosts workshops! It’s operated by the Seattle Printers Guild.

Anecdote

This is just serendipity–it’s barely a story at all, but it delighted me.

I recently shared photos of plants i was proud to have identified in the wild, in a discussion with some other Editors Canada members. One of my favorites was an air plant i saw in Florida.

I didn’t even realize they grow like this until i saw them growing randomly on top of other plants, like someone had just thrown a handful out into the woods:

I had one as a kid and i kept thinking about getting another one, but i hadn’t seen one for sale in the U.S. since before i started my little desk jungle–until i posted that photo. The very next day, there was one at the store for $3.99!

Obviously she came home with me and now her name is Frederica. She’s meditating on a cup of sphagnum moss while i decide on a more permanent home.
